The Neverending Mixtape is a supergroup of artists from across the globe, collaborating together with the hopes of shaking up the monotony in today's hip-hop scene and showcasing underground talent. By combining a plethora of unique backgrounds, vocal styles, and production expertise, The Neverending Mixtape hopes to provide a dense catalog of high-quality work with a diverse range of sounds.
When forming The Neverending Mixtape in May of 2021, contributors met entirely online through local hip-hop forums and the popular messaging app Discord, and, through the power of the internet, have been trading ideas and creating magic ever since. Production, engineering, and mastering is done entirely in-house, and the team has grown to include other creative ventures in The Neverending Network, such as The Neverending Podcast, an online storefront for merchandise, and Music Never Ends, a hip-hop editorial showcase for emerging talent worldwide.
The first project from The Neverending Mixtape crew. Created and curated by Stew Mitchell, this group of yet-to-be-discovered talent formed an immediate bond and began working diligently on a debut.
Over the course of three months, the group crafted over 20 tracks, which were then hand-picked down to a final 15- The Neverending Mixtape, Vol. 1. The Vol. 1 was an important part, as it already showed the group's dedication to constant output and improvement.
Vol. 1 highlighted the art of collaboration, a never-ending cycle of back-and-forth between artists. Each track was different- some lyrical, some melodic, some for the club, some for the car. Over 30 unique artists were on display, and every single one added his or her signature flair.
The best part? It was only the beginning.
After the success of Vol. 1, the group entered a blackout period to recoup their thoughts and organize their ideas for the next big endeavor.
With the nature of piecing together a cohesive project such as Vol. 1, many tracks were created that did not fit the vision of the album and therefore not released to the public.
To keep the group's momentum and energy toward new releases, two EPs were constructed to fill the gap between major releases and highlight those songs.
Meanwhile, the group reconvened, beginning to lay the foundation for what was to come.
Only 3 months had passed since the release of The Neverending Mixtape, Vol. 1, but there were no signs of slowing down.
The Neverending conglomerate continued to evolve, adding new members in all categories and expanding the group's online presence.
For Vol. 2, 16 tracks were meticulously crafted by 50 unique contributors, highlighting the achievement of blending so many unorthodox styles and backgrounds into the most cohesive project to date.
Now, Vol. 2 has arrived, and there's nowhere to go but up.
Continuing on the momentum built in 2021, The Neverending crew looked back on past releases. What stood the test of time? What could be improved? An idea began to form, and quickly members shifted their energy onto a new plan: A remix album.
Producers began to collect stems of previous tracks and morph them into new, stylized versions of the originals. From chopped and screwed slow jams to a frenzy of fast-paced beat switches, Neverending: Reimagined was born, an eclectic bag that took old tracks to new heights.
Neverending: Reimagined marks the end of the group's freshman year and the start of a wide new path. The album's 16 tracks may not have a lot in common with each other, but one thing is for certain: This year is going to be wild.
